Windows NT4.0, Windows 2000 and Windows XP with client
workstations on Windows 98SE, ME, NT 4.0, 2000 and XP

Capture – Import
Thanks to
the VERITY search engine, Documind can index almost
any file type. When adding documents to an archive,
Documind will create a full text index for this document,
i.e. the document contents will be made searchable.
While this is possible for most text formats (Documind
supports about 90 different file formats for full text
indexing) Documind can also handle multi media formats.
These files can be indexed automatically - by file name,
date etc. - or manually: Naturally, manual indices can
also be defined for standard text documents, thus combining
the advantages of a full text index with those of a
standard index.
All Documind products offer OCR (Optical Character Recognition)
capabilities based on the FineReader technology developed
by ABBYY Software House. This feature can be used with
existing image files or newly scanned images.
Documents
will be full text indexed upon import. Optionally, custom
indices can be assigned, either automatically or manually.
Document
Search & Retrieval
Once archived,
the documents can be modified (according to user access
rights). The modified document replaces the previous
version, making the most current version accessible
to all users.
Users can
either use the Windows or web interface to access Documind.
Both user interfaces offer full text (unstructured)
and index (structured) search capabilities.
Naturally, both search modes can be combined.
Structured
search features
- field operators (>, <, >=,=, =>)
- selection of keywords from combo boxes associated
with index field(s)
Full text/
unstructured search features
- use of boolean search operators (and, or, not)
- word operators (thesaurus, wildcards,…)
- word relation operators (near,…)
- fuzzy search (helps users find misspelled words)
The full text
search, i.e. search on the contents of a document is
based on the integrated VERITY engine which is one of
the most powerful engines available on the market today.
Once a query
has been sent to the Documind Server, the server returns
a results list that contains all documents matching
the search criteria. Users can open these documents
and view them in the internal or an external document
viewer.
7 search languages are available:
English, French, German, Greek, Italian, Polish and
Spanish (one language per archive).
One of the
main and distinctive features of Documind CS and Documind
Pro are their MS Outlook integration (Outlook 2000 and
better) which enables users to archive and search emails
and their text attachments. |
